NEW LIBRARY IN BRIOSCO

New library in Briosco

Personal work

The library project in Briosco, starts from the wishes to harmonize and integrate itself with the very naturally context, through by a fluid form, and at same time, holdingto hold the classic library concept. Not only,, which is it strongly rooted in our cultural tradition, characterized made of pure shapes and geometries, but also it provides  of a wide space top illuminated, which invites to the explore the benefits of knowledge reading and culture. As a result, a classic It originated a classic building is originated. It is classic  for the way of light illuminates it indirectly, for idea of a one path which crossing the different space, allows allowing various and new points of view, and  and finally it is a classic because it aims to build an harmonious space, where the dimensions are commensurate with a clear and unambiguous geometry.
We have considered the contour line as element that can conjugate the “rigid” architectural geometry "rigid" architecture with the fluidity of natural forms, due to its as an element created by the cartographic aim of  representation ( and as such artificial ) to describe describing and rationalize rationalizing the naturalness natural character  of the soil.
ThereforAs a result,  a square with of 20 m in length on each side is generated, with the same Alpine orientation and moreover which deforms  turn orienting itself like the Alpine hut, and deform the contour line. The height difference that characterizes the lot of the project lot is defined by new retaining wall that marks the difference between the terrace at height 309m and the remaining part of the park.
The building is a block semi-underground, which inserts itself in the height difference and the high part emerges for only 1.50 m, creating a little and accessible solarium-terrace  equipped withaccessible through stairs and ramp. A photovoltaic skylight, covers the large central void, that characterized the building, and is bordered by a path at high altitude, starting from the upper entrance of the lot, and spreadingspread along the retaining wall and continues until the Alpine hut. The entrance of the library is marked by a curved wall that receives the path of external entry. The new path derives, both physically and conceptually, from the square platform used now as a dance floor, which has already a function of joint or junction, between the entry path and that the one which leads to the Alpine hut. The rigid original square form “dematerialized”, with a pixel effect, giving rise togenerating the new entrance path. Also in this caseAgain, the new solution doesn’t  does not alter the previous one, but it integrates it with the status quo, marking the relationship between old and new through a conceptual operationzione: the dematerialization of hard old signs in a fragmentary drawing, that given their exactly because fragmentary fragmental nature (pixellatedpixelated), well integrates with greater consistency of the natural element, the lawn, with the artificial one, the path.
The interior design is conceived as “tray” system spread on the three different heights. The entry is on the relative depth 0.00 m, which coincides with external one of 395 m. From the entrance space it can access to the reading room through a ramp, as a large book-square top-lighted from above is on the relative height -1.5 m, and through a little stairs it can rise access at +1.5 m height in the multimedia room. The three spaces look one into another, in order as well as to create a perception game between the different levels that expands that space beyond the boundaries of the look.
