CONTRADA RACCUGLIA

The city extension and the dialectic between smaller towns and new infrastructure
Personal work
The peri-urban area of the municipality of Partinico, has the typical features of the borderland between town and country. The “rigid geometry” in the neighborhoods of new expansion becomes an element of the rif t between the grid of the historic city and the agricultural plot. The area covered by
project seems to be interpreted through three “actions” that summarize the intervention strategy.
Beading: right from the start we felt it was necessary to identify a strong sign, able to define a permeable boundary between town and country. The new houses, located along the route of the new ring road underground, they become part of a new “limit ”: a wall equipped through which you can renew old and new tracks. The new board clears the rigidity of the old barriers, such as the streets of the newest neighborhoods, summarizing the new and old structures in a unified design.
Reuniting: the different parts of the city are “stitched“ together through a new design of soil that gather different giaciture.
Weaving: the urban park is organized through a system of giaciture and different colors corresponding to different essences. A new “fabric ” that outlines the new landscape.
The nursery, located in the most urbanized, declines to scale architectural theme, building through the movement of its pure volumes a new dialogue with grassed and paved areas surrounding it.
